THE SUMMIT OF MOUNT MCGREGOR IS ONE SITE WE’RE PROPOSING FOR THE SARATOGA 2056 TIME CAPSULE IN WHICH WE’LL INTER ALL SMARTACUS INTERVIEWS.

Round 1 of our Practicum in Collaborative Media is nearly completed and ready for interment in our Time Capsule. Now we're embarking on Round 2. We seek leaders, innovators and artists in Upstate New York’s creative economy who would like to tell their stories, not only to all of us who are living in the present, but those in the future as well.

We also seek futurists — anyone who's thinking seriously about where our planet, species, and community is heading. Anyone who hopes to somehow avoid catastrophe and leave to our children a better world and has thoughts to share on that.

SMARTACUS is:

  • a Collaboration Engine that brings together Student Writers and Interview Subjects with close supervision by a Writing Coach.

  • a Maker Space for content that supports the economic development of Upstate New York.

  • the Creative Agency that will tell your story now and in the future. No charge!

Given the potential of SMARTACUS to become an enduring regional brand that serves as a prominent marker for creativity in Saratoga County, we’re confident we can enlist another great cohort of leaders, innovators and artists to be profiled in the Legacy series we launched last year with Saratoga Springs High School journalism teacher Jill Cowburn. Scroll down and you’ll find most of the stories we’ve published with Saratoga Today.

We’re also ramping up these new series:

One key question we must answer before Election Day 2020: Where will we bury the Saratoga 2056 Time Capsule on November 4, 2020, the day after Election Day? Mount McGregor is the most logical location, given the importance that The New Hotel Balmoral will play in Darwin’s Edge. We just formally asked the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for permission to do this.

In the meantime, we’re extending invitations to people whose stories we think are especially deserving of inclusion in our Time Capsule. Here’s our Letter of Welcome.
